Fjällräven Classic in Denmark
The Fjällräven Classic concept started in northern Sweden in 2005. After many successful years and a growing number of participants, they decided to add a new Classic in Denmark. In 2013 the inaugural event had just a few hundred participants, mainly Danes.
Even before getting to the start I met people going to the same event as I. We talked for a while and decided to travel together. We liked each other’s company and in the the end we walked over the finish line together. In 2016 I joined the event again, this time as a host. I really love the Classic events and each time I collect memories for life. At the danish version we all gather in the evenings and it feels like a big family out on a holiday adventure. You walk through villages, green forest, over grassy fields and once in a while you even walk past a pub or an ice-cream stand. Interested? Join the family!
Until today I’ve been guiding, walking as a participant and been a helpful volunteer.
Notes from my field journal
“When you walk through a small village and you hear laughter… then you know its a pub up a head. At the Danish Classic people feel more relaxed and at ease. Perhaps it’s the weather, the landscape and that we actually spend more time together.”
