Fjällräven Classic in Sweden

Walking this event is like coming home. I’ve walked between Nikkaluokta and Abisko 10+ times and still embrace every step along the trail! I did my first Fjällräven Classic in 2009. Since then I’ve walked it with overseas friends, friends from work, with mom, as a trekking host and nowadays as a guide. Every time is special. The trail is 110km long and is north of the polar circle. During the event you will pass a couple of great saunas, the highest pass of the King’s Trail, eat pancakes like never before, scout for reindeers and brush your teeth and cook your food with majestic valleys and mountains around you. A foggy morning during coffee, a couple of sun rays get through the clouds, and you can see them move around in the valley like playful children before going over the ridge. You sit there in your tent with a fluffy jacket on, people pass you on the trail and in a distance you can see some people taking down their tent. Later the sun is up and you’ve walked for a while, you cross a river and stop for a minute to refill your water bottle. You meet some people and you’re invited to walk with them. Later in the evening you’re still together chatting about life.

I’ve been walking 2009-2016, 2018, 2019 and 2022, 2023.

Notes from my field journal

“I got loads of useful tips. Email me or call me and I happily guide you and your friends.”

“It’s an epic journey in a vast, rugged wilderness way above the Arctic Circle. With everything you need packed into your backpack, this is the landscape you’ll call home while you trek from Nikkaluokta to Abisko, partly following The King’s Trail.”

“I would say this event is a life changer in one way or another.”
